dandy is queer art.
queer art is dandy.
dandy queer art is a constantly-evolving online magazine, gallery, and shop, recognizing the creative achievements of
lgbtq+ artists, designers, and makers.
dandy publishes new content daily.
we select our regularly featured artists based on three criteria: exceptional technical skill, powerful messaging, and unusual talent.
new, exclusive art is commissioned for the dandy collection several times per issue and is always available in our shop.
as the site expands, so will our online community, creating stronger connections between artists, appreciators, and patrons.
we also try our best to maintain a goddamn sense of humor.
dandy is currently comprised of five major elements:
our magazine showcases the work and personalities of the world's most unique and talented queer creators and examines the vital role they play in contemporary culture.
our community page keeps our readers on top of the latest information about upcoming and ongoing queer art events.
our shop sells specially curated work and merchandise by our featured artists.
our archive features work from past issues of our magazine.
drawing :: painting
sculpture :: installation
photography :: video
fashion :: makeup :: drag
cuisine :: events
music :: performance
we hope this is the start of something
really fucking queer.
frequently asked queeries
(get it?)
what kind of art does dandy exhibit? what is not allowed?
dandy features a huge variety of work of all media and subject matter, created by lgbtq+ (or strongly allied) artists, designers, and makers of all genders, races, religions, ages, and persuasions. most depictions of penile erections and/or penetrative sex acts are censored for display in articles and other public areas, but we provide links to our uncensored, age-verification-protected gallery whenever we have permission to archive an artist's work on our site.
though we are major champions of the freedom of artistic expression, dandy reserves the right to display or censor work as we see fit, and despite artistic merit, we will never display:
:: work appearing to fetishize sexualization of minors
:: work appearing to fetishize non-consensual sexual activity
:: work appearing to fetishize self-harm
what should i do if i see something on dandy that i feel is inappropriate or harmful?
if you see something on our site that is cause for concern, please notify us immediately at info@dandyqueerart.com. some offensive things we post are entirely intentional (they're just naughty words and body parts, people), but we may be unaware of, or mistakenly overlook, the negative impact certain content might create. we take all complaints seriously, and though some quickly end up in our internal "please fuck right off" pile, all concerns will be reviewed fairly and ethically, and responded to with grace.

:: identically sized :: able to be conveniently stored with other collection pieces, or displayed in a cohesive, visually appealing way
how do i get my art, design, or other creative work featured on dandy?
all work currently featured in our magazine and galleries is curated. if you would like to be considered, please email a link to your portfolio, website, or publicly accessible social media account to artist@dandyqueerart.com with a few words (keep it brief) about yourself. if your work isn't published on the internet, please limit image files to a maximum of three. we are excited to review your work, but unfortunately don't have a large enough team to guarantee an immediate response at this time.
how do i sell my work on dandy?
in order to maintain standards for quality control, accountability, and customer service, the dandy shop only sells artwork and merch that we commission, produce, and handle ourselves. we do, however, provide links to featured artists' own shop sites (when available), so we can help them expand their personal business. as we grow, dandy has plans to develop an artist marketplace, but for now, all site-wide sales are limited to dandy-specific work.
who is behind dandy, and where is my money going?
every current contractor of dandy identifies as queer- and most people might even call us artists.
dandy’s ethics and sustainability efforts are not just for show. we are proud to treat and pay our contributing artists splendidly, vendors are vetted for lgbtq+, bipoc, and gender inclusivity and diversity, and product components are sustainably and ethically sourced whenever possible.
if you are at all concerned that dandy is supporting, promoting, or engaging with contractors or vendors who are proven to exhibit unethical or otherwise shitty practices, please let us know and we will are happy to re-examine our relationship with them. contact info@dandyqueerart.com to report those motherfuckers.
is the dandy site currently hiring?
we are definitely growing quickly. if you're looking for work as a magazine contributor, you are a queer owned or operated vendor, or you have experience with freelance site admin work (we use squarespace and shipstation), please email us your resume and a few words about yourself (keep it brief) to artist@dandyqueerart.com.
we encourage diversity, and we hire to reflect that, including women, bipoc, and even the straights. at this time, we are not a large enough operation to take on full-time employees, but please keep checking back.
this site is dedicated to my father, Dr. John David McNaughton,
who supported me through the most devastating period of my life (so far),
to all the people who have ever seen something in me and pushed hard to keep me moving forward,
and to everyone who helped, in any small way, to make this queer little idea a reality.
may i find the strength and audacity to pay it forward.
