Igor Sychev is from Russia. He was born and raised in the far north in the city of Nadym, not far from the Arctic Circle. ​​​​​​​He has been attending art school since he was 5 years old. At the age of 16, he entered the State University of Architecture, Design and Fine Arts in Novosibirsk, the capital of Siberia.
