José Michelsen is a Colombian painter born in 1989 in Bogotá. He began to relate to art very early in his life and became a self-taught artist. He trained in the European atelier style in the crafts of drawing and painting with artist Alfredo Araújo Santoyo for three years. He lives and works in Bogotá, Colombia. The main subject in his work is the male human figure focused on how flesh is raptured by its surroundings and as a result, the body abstractly combines itself with the space that holds it.
