Federico Salis
Italy
Federico Salis is a graphic designer/illustrator based in Milan, Italy. They studied arts in London at the University of the Arts and after seven years, decided to leave the UK and move back to Italy. In their art, the concepts take mostly inspiration from music, pop culture and movies and also old retro poster designs. The message behind their work is to destroy toxic masculinity stereotypes using strong muscles, defined anatomy which for ages has been a characteristic of strong masculinity. But what if muscles and our body do not define our gender and sexuality? We live in a society of strict rules where other people decide for us how to behave, how to talk, what to wear. Most of the time these external influences do not allow us to become who we really are, leading us to build a mask. It is important to embrace back our strength, both femininity and masculinity, fragility, emotions and love within us.
