[dandy:] Your work in five words or less?
[Troy Salmon:] Passionate, evocative, saturated, dynamic, eclectic.

What's your personal kink?
Voyeurism

Turn ons?
I find it almost impossible to create without music. I love to immerse myself in layers of creative energy. My studio walls are adorned with ideas, inspiration and  pictures of naked men. It’s my happy place. Plus I love ass!

Turn offs?
Dishonesty and rainy Mondays.

Favorite subject?
The male figure is the subject that I am always drawn to, but portraiture is something I’ve always enjoyed exploring in my work.

Ideal place to display your work?
Your lounge room. Do it! You won’t regret it. Or a gallery. I’m not fussed, as long as someone is appreciating it.

Favorite non-art pastime?
Looking at smut on twitter, for obvious reasons.

Most memorable project?
Recently, it would be working with dandyqueerart.com on their Shock Jocks project. A rewarding experience both creatively and professionally.

Art crush?
I don’t have a crush, I’m an art slut. This week I’m obsessed with Matthew Stradling’s work for his use of color, and Mark Beard for his depiction of the male form and use of lighting. Next week, who knows?

Personal crayon color?
Slapped Ass Pink

What is unique about your process?
My artwork is a combination of traditional and digital techniques with a strong emphasise on colour and how they interact with each other.

Why make art?
I want to contribute to more queer representation in mainstream art. I make art because it’s my way of letting the world know I was here. I existed and I had something to say.

What's next?
I’m starting to explore the idea of introducing tactile mixed-media into my pieces, and incorporating more of my photography.
