Your work in five words or less?
I love gay anal sex!
What’s your personal kink?
Older and younger, coach and student, voyeurism. I think I’m actually turned on by watching sex most of all. With porn, I imagine I’m a guy who hired them to perform for me- or that I’m hiding just out of sight, and they have no idea they’re being watched. That’s how I draw, like you’re seeing something you shouldn’t.
Turn-ons?
Paris. My husband and I go whenever possible. Sitting at a cafe and having hot chocolate and french fries with him is absolute heaven.
Turn-offs?
Anyone who threatens or is threatened by homosexuality, art, science, knowledge- just anything different than their boring lives have to offer.
Favorite subject?
Anal sex. Especially between an older man and a younger man. Not sure why, but when I try to explore other themes or ideas, I always seem to circle back to it.
Ideal place to display your work?
There is a small art space in the Tuileries in Paris called the Orangerie. It’s so clean and modern inside this lovely antique building, almost as if it didn’t belong there. A true dream space to show my work.
Favorite non-art pastime?
I really enjoy watching old movies, especially anything with Gene Kelly. Such a vintage hunk. I also love eating in restaurants. Any time of day, but especially after shopping. It makes me feel safe and human.
Most memorable project?
A piece I did a few years back of a merman playing a ukulele. I’m very proud of that piece as it’s homoerotic without depicting any sex. I have it as my phone case.
Art crush?
A few of my favorites include J.C. Leyendecker, Alphonse Mucha, and Alberto Vargas. Frank Frazetta’s men are rendered with such force and power, and he sparked my love of sci-fi and fantasy art. More recently, Silverjow for his graphic style and beautifully rendered skin.
Personal crayon color?
Ancillary Aqua. Nearly any shade of aqua is ideal for highlighting skin tones, and for backgrounds, shadows, or clothing- when there is any.
What is unique about your process?
I think i have become quite good at distorting the male figure to be flat and geometric with hints of cubism, but in a way that’s still recognizable, and highly erotic.
Why make art?
I think I’m driven by a need for sexual validation, and I hope to put more positive, beautiful depictions of male-to-male eroticism out into the world.
What’s next?
No plans right now, but I’d love to do an art calendar again. I love working within a theme, and a calendar of 12 images is a great way to showcase a series.
